Alaska Native

Официальный термин, используемый Бюро переписи населения [Bureau of the Census] и другими ведомствами. Эта категория населения включает алеутов [Aleut], атапасков [Athapascan], тлинкитов [Tlingit] и инуитов (эскимосов) [Inuit]. До переписи населения 1990 их относили к "американским индейцам" [American Indians]. Группа коренных жителей Аляски, которую федеральные власти считают полномочной подписывать договора, называется "признанной федеральными властями" ["federally recognized Alaska Native"]. На Аляске более 200 органов местного самоуправления, созданных коренными жителями и признанных властями США.
